What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that translates as knowledge of life. It originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It is known as the Mother of Healing. Ayurveda offers a comprehensive health system to maintain and restore balance to the mind, body, and soul through food, daily habits and routines, massage therapies, medicinal plants, and the recognition of our connection to the natural environment.

Each treatment is tailored to the individual with specific oils or herbal formulas to balance the doshas and restore physical and energetic vitality in a unique way.

    Choorna Pinda Swedana

    It is a very beneficial treatment for stimulating circulation, reducing joint stiffness and pain, rheumatism, and injuries, while deeply relaxing the muscles. Oil is applied all over the body, and gentle tapping with herbal medicine wrapped in cloth applies heat to the joints, deep tissues, and bones.

    It consists of an abhyanga massage of the arms, neck, face and head, with steam and medicated oils applied to the nostrils.
    Its benefits include: cleansing the respiratory passages, clearing the sinuses, relieving congestion, sinusitis, allergies, and headaches, improving mental clarity and concentration, relieving mental stress and anxiety, and improving smell, vision, and breathing. It balances hormones and calms the nervous system, helping to keep the mind and senses in balance.
